Eugene, OR. June 20, 2017 – EDX Wireless, the leading provider of wireless network design solutions announces the release of SignalPro v8.4.1. The latest in EDX’s extensive line of network design and optimization software includes many new features that will serve engineers designing 5G, Smart Grid and a host of other wireless networks. Beginning with v8.4.1, network designers will have the ability to utilize Vricon geodata from DigitalGlobe, Inc in SignalPro projects. With resolutions as good as 50cm, this turnkey, global data solution provides a new degree of accuracy in the creation of service area models and study results. Because wireless networks continue to be deployed in a variety of challenging service areas, with transmitters located where physical characteristics of the environment are likely to affect system performance, the creation of a robust 3D model using the most detailed data available is vital. It is this level of detail that will ensure engineers are designing and optimizing networks that meet coverage, performance and budgetary requirements.
“As we prepare for 5G, FirstNet LTE, IoT and continue Smart Meter rollouts, the usage of accurate and detailed data is essential” said Roger Skidmore, CEO of EDX Wireless; “We continually see dynamic networks being deployed in mixed environment service areas and as such, our designs must take into account buildings and other characteristics unique to each region.”
To further prepare for 5G roll-outs, SignalPro v8.4.1 also includes a new 5G propagation model. Based on the 3GPP TR 38.900 v14.2.0 technical document, this new model allows engineers to design a network based on several potential scenarios including; Rural Macro, Urban Macro, Urban Micro and Indoor Hotspot – office or shopping mall.
Additionally, v8.4.1 continues to enhance SignalPro’s industry leading Smart Meter design functionality by providing users the ability to run link studies and display a path profile for individual links in a smart meter or mesh system.
With a comprehensive design and analysis solution, EDX continues to be the industry’s leading provider of wireless network planning, deploying and optimization software.
EDX develops network design solutions that are the most widely used engineering software products for designing wireless communication networks, including; LTE, utility Smart Grid, Mesh, in-building DAS, Mobile/Cellular, wireless broadband, PTC, LMR and more.
