Tropospheric Scatter in SignalPro

by | May 3, 2022

When microwave signals must transmit over great distances, including those that do not have line-of-sight because they must be received over the visual horizon, the Tropospheric Scatter or Troposcatter phenomenon becomes relevant.

Tropospheric Scatter uses particles in the Earth’s atmosphere to reflect and “scatter” portions of a transmitter’s radio signal back to Earth that are then picked up by the receiver.

SignalPro includes an option to add Tropospheric Scatter to your propagation model. Note that this option is not available for all prop models (the option does not show up when these models are used). On the other hand, some propagation models will always use Troposcatter (those models will not have the option to check Troposcatter on/off)

To use this option in your propagation model navigate to: Studies -> Propagation Models
