Overview:

The uplink or “talk-in” side of a land-mobile network is often a weaker link budget than the downlink and acts as the limiting factor for network coverage. Different network solutions have a few ways of ensuring reliable uplink communication despite signal fading. Voting receivers and newer macro-diversity voting systems on the base stations provide uplink diversity which allow for greater uplink reliability.
