Precision Planning

SignalPro empowers network engineers and planners to create precise, high-performance wireless Networks.

Cost Efficiency

By meticulously planning your network’s layout and parameters, you can reduce infrastructure costs and operational expenses.

Risk Mitigation

By identifying potential issues before deployment, SignalPro helps you proactively address challenges and minimize risks, leading to a more robust and resilient network.

Data-Driven Insights

Data is king, and SignalPro offers a treasure trove of data-driven insights. By analyzing real-world data, you can fine-tune your network for optimal performance.

Regulatory Compliance

Navigating the complex world of wireless regulations can be a daunting task. SignalPro incorporates compliance checks, helping you stay on the right side of regulatory requirements.

EDX SignalPro calculates a full microwave path analysis that includes rain and fade outage, percent availability, dispersive fade margin, antenna diversity reception and cross-link interference. An additional feature is a userdefined correlated rain fade on interference paths.

This feature allows the user to specify a correlation factor as a function of off-boresight angle to control the extent to which rain fades on interfering paths are correlated with the rain fade on the desired path. A separate user-specified function allows the crosspolarization rejection to be degraded as a function of co-polarized rain fade depth.

Including:

  • Full downlink and uplink reliability analysis on
    each radio path
  • Uplink and downlink interference analysis
  • An automatic ring network layout constructs
links to connect an arbitrary set of buildings
    to be served

Link & MultiPoint Planning

wireless mapping software

SignalPro supports single link and multi-link network path profiles with end-to-end reliability studies.

  • The path profile tool includes K-factor analysis with diversity antennas, to ensure your links have reliability even as atmospheric conditions change.
  • Leverage clutter and/or building databases as well as manually add path obstructions.
  • The link features support’s adaptive modulation that can be used for any technology.
  • Link information and studies can be included in the same SignalPro project with area-wide or multipoint network elements. This allows our users to model the entire network, including backhaul, in a single easy-to-navigate project.

Multipoint

The Multipoint Systems features of EDX’s Network Design Module add the ability to do true point to-multipoint analysis with hub stations serving a set of Customer Premise Equipment (CPE), each with independently defined RF parameters and geographical locations. It is not a “grid” or “area” analysis simulating multipoint, it is a true multipoint analysis that can provide simultaneous uplink/downlink and FDD or TDD system analysis. These multipoint studies are in addition to the regular area-wide studies showing line-of-sight, signal, and interference analysis. EDX’s comprehensive point-tomultipoint (PMP) system analysis considers each network hub and each uniquely defined CPE.

PMP studies include:

  • Received signal levels downlink and uplink for
    each CPE
  • Interference levels at Base and CPE receiver fade
margins downlink and uplink for each CPE
  • Full multiple access capability for evaluating TDMA and CDMA systems using any modulation type with support for adaptive modulation and coding

  • Link availability analysis for each CPE, both downlink and uplink. Analysis includes fade and
    rain outage effects
  • C/(I+N) using channel plan
  • Best server based on best channel (area-wide study)
  • Adaptive modulation performance
  • BER analysis

GIS Layers

Display the equipment on your map view with options such as cell range, directional antenna beam width and traffic loading. Include a constant floating image on your map view, such as your company logo. Easy undo & redo functions allow you to view previous map views. GUI navigation commands give you intuitive control for panning, zooming and accessing right-click commands/ menus. Customizable Status Bar: A customizable status bar allows you to control the dynamic information you want to view. It can include study results, terrain elevation, building height, and clutter category. Multiple Map Display: Multiple map views conveniently show your project studies and GIS map data simultaneously. Views can also be saved as common image files such as KML, KMZ, JPG, BMP, GIF, TIF and others.

Propagation Models

EDX SignalPro is at the core of a comprehensive set of RF propagation prediction models, appropriate for systems from 30 MHz to100 GHz. EDX SignalPro lets you select from an extensive set of over 30 published propagation models, customize the coefficients of selected empirical models, or create your own proprietary propagation models with an external dynamic link library. All models have adjustable environmental and reliability parameters. Further, you can select a unique model for every base station sector in your study or use a single model for the entire study. For refined accuracy, the physical / deterministic models can consider the attenuation and height values of underlying clutter databases at the receive location or at each study point. A fundamental element of wireless communication system planning is predicting the signal strength at some location resulting from a transmitter at another location.

The transmission of electromagnetic waves from one point to another is a complex physical phenomenon, especially when the environment is complicated with features such as mountains, buildings, and/or foliage, in addition to changing atmospheric conditions, rain and other variable elements. Depending on the transmission frequency, location and so forth, all of these features and elements can potentially affect the strength of the signal at some distance from the transmitter. Because RF transmission is a complex phenomenon, it’s not possible to predict the signal strength or  transmission path loss exactly.

As a result, over the years many propagation models have been developed to estimate, as accurately as possible, the signal loss over the transmission path and its variations. However, not all propagation models are created equal. Depending on the circumstances, frequency, type of service, as well as the experience of the engineer using the model, some models are better than others. For that reason, EDX software products currently offer over 30 different propagation models spread across its product line.

Area Studies

Area Studies can be used to create maps showing coverage areas, interference areas, and other information that can be directly used to design a communications system and predict its performance
in terms of real service objectives.

Some examples are:

  • Shadowing/Line of Sight
  • Path Loss
  • Field Strength
  • Received Power
  • Downlink Signal Levels
  • Uplink Signal Levels
  • TIA TSB-88 Reliability

  • C/(I+N) & Aggregate C/(I+N)
  • Group-To-Group Interference
  • Bit Error Rate
  • Number of Available servers
  • Simulcast Delay Spread
  • Height Required for LoS

BDC Filing

bdc-Filing Signal Pro
Bdc Siling Signal Pro

To update broadband maps depicting where fixed and mobile broadband services are available, the FCC has launched the Broadband Data Collection (BDC) program. Coverage maps collected through BDC filings will provide operators, along with government entities, the information needed to determine where service is needed and how to fund future deployments.

EDX has a complete feature set specific for BDC filings, based on the FCC requirements, to help providers streamline the process.

Model Tuning

EDX offers users automatic tuning for clutter pass-through loss, providing a much more accurate representation of losses in the field and streamlining your deployments.

The feature is particularly helpful with high-frequency, short-range networks such as 5G, CBRS, small cell, Mesh and other networks that are more susceptible to clutter and physical characteristics of a service area.

CPE

SignalPro comes with automatic CPE layout features to help you define CPE types and place a representative network of CPEs in your service area. For instance, you can have the auto-placement feature distribute a set number of CPEs in your service area, group-by-group. Each group would have a unique traffic demand (uplink and downlink) and RF equipment settings.

Each group can be automatically distributed in your service area, with placement being weighted by meaningful criteria such as:

  •  A fixed grid
  • Land use (clutter)
  • Data classifications
  • Traffic database
  • Building rooftops
  • Based on street data

Edx Wireless Area Studies Map

Once you have your multiple groups set, you can combine all groups in your final system analysis to estimate the total demand on your network or study them individually taking into consideration the many customer configurations that you expect. CPE’s can be assigned to their servicing hubs (sectors) either manually, based on most likely server or by using an automatic server and channel assignment function.
